Choosing a moving company
You’ve got the job and now you’re trying to find out what’s the best way to move your belongings to Ireland. You might be lucky enough to be able to fit everything you need in to one suitcase, but oftentimes making the big move will involve bringing bigger items from your house with you, especially if you are making the move with your family. There’s a multitude of moving companies that will ship your goods to Ireland. We’ve compiled a list of a few of these so that you can start the search for one that will best suit you.
Sometimes your new employer will offer you a relocation package and they might arrange for your things to be moved or you might have to do this step yourself.
It’s a good idea to hire a removal company a few weeks before you need your items moved. Take into account that your belongings can take up to 8 weeks to be shipped and you might want to make sure that it’s all organised ahead of time.
If you are organising it yourself, you’ll want to make sure that you get a reputable removal company so you can be sure that your stuff will arrive in your new home. You can also see if the company is a member of the Federation of European Movers Associations (FEDEMAC) or the International Association of Movers. If you aren’t sure of where to go, ask friends who might have moved from your area or your new employer for companies that they have used before. It never hurts to make enquiries.
Remember that you’ll need moving insurance and be sure to make a list of the possessions that you are packing. Estimate how many boxes/containers you might be shipping and agree a delivery date.
How much will it cost?
The price of moving to Ireland will vary depending on where you are coming from. It’s best to get quotes from a few different moving companies.
